Why The Pad’s Summer Climbing Camp Is a Game-Changer for Binghamton Kids

Let’s be honest: summer break sounds amazing in theory—until about day three, when the kids are climbing the furniture and asking for snacks every 14 minutes. You want them to be active, learning, and having fun (without living on screens), but finding the right summer camp in Binghamton? Not so easy.

That’s where The Pad Climbing’s Summer Camp comes in.

We’ve built a one-of-a-kind day camp experience designed for kids ages 6–14 that blends movement, creativity, and confidence-building—no climbing experience required. Whether your kid’s a bundle of energy or a quiet observer who’s ready to try something new, this camp creates space for them to learn, grow, and, yeah—climb actual walls (instead of your kitchen cabinets).

So, what do they actually do all day?

Each camp session includes:

  1. Indoor climbing instruction from certified coaches

  2. Knot tying, belaying, route setting, and climbing technique workshops

  3. Yoga, mindfulness, and focus-building games

  4. Crafts, team challenges, and tons of fun movement-based play

  5. A new group of friends who’ll cheer them on every step of the way

Our staff is certified through the U.S. Center for SafeSport and Autism Climbs, and they’re trained to support a wide range of kids and climbing comfort levels. The vibe? Encouraging, inclusive, and full of laughs.

Flexible Scheduling for Busy Families

You can choose between half-day and full-day sessions, depending on what works best for your schedule:

Morning Half Day: 8AM–12PM

Afternoon Half Day: 12PM–4PM

Full Day: 8AM–4PM

We offer eight weeks of camp starting in July—and spots are already filling.

Why climbing?

Climbing builds more than strength. It teaches problem-solving, confidence, and resilience—all in a space where kids learn to support each other, take healthy risks, and feel proud of what they can do.

Also: it’s just really fun.

  1. Week 1: July 7 – 11

  2. Week 2: July 14 – 18

  3. Week 3: July 21 – 25

  4. Week 4: July 28 – Aug 1

  5. Week 5: Aug 4 – 8

  6. Week 6: Aug 11 – 15

  7. Week 7: Aug 18 – 22

  8. Week 8: Aug 25 – 29

Note: When registering, click the Monday of your chosen week. Our system will auto-enroll you for the rest of the session.
